Minister of Interior & Police Faride Raful announced that experts from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation have joined the search for the whereabouts of three year old Brianna Genao. Fadul said that the FBI agents are working with specialists from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State. The US crime specialists join the National Police as a new sweep is undertaken to find new evidence of what could have happened leading to the little girl’s disappearance.
According to Minister Raful, the US agencies are providing critical logistical support, including specialized canine units. These teams have already arrived in the country and will be deployed this week to assist the National Police in scouring the area where the child was last seen.
“This is a deeply regrettable case,” Raful stated, emphasizing that authorities will not rest until the child is located. She confirmed that the National Police and the Public Ministry are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry simultaneously.
The child disappeared on 31 December 2025 when visiting her great grandparents house.
The child lived with her grandmother Ana Maria Rosario, who is the legal tutor of the child, after her mother moved to the United States.
The grandmother had traveled to the small hamlet of Barrero in Imbert, Puerto Plata to be with her closest relatives for the New Year celebration. That afternoon, at 4:35pm, Rosario sent her daughter a photo of the child. The photo is now the last of the child, as reported by Alicia Ortega in El Informe.
Two of the child’s grand uncles were investigated as suspects in the disappearance, but they later were released with no charges.
The name of the mother of the child has not been reported. The grandmother and tutor Ana Maria Rosario has complained that the authorities have not shared their findings into the investigation. The father of the child, Carlos Manuel Genao, is also awaiting an explanation, as reported in Listin Diario.
Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso is now directly handling the case that originally, working with Adjunct Attorney Olga Dina Llaverias, who is in charge of children’s investigations.
