Presidency confirms official opening of the Metro 2C line to Los Alcarrizos

The expansion of the Santo Domingo Metro to Los Alcarrizos is a significant milestone for the city’s transit system. The 7.3-kilometer extension connects the María Montez station in Km. 9 of the Duarte Highway to the new Los Alcarrizos terminal, further to the north, featuring five new elevated stations. This project aims to significantly reduce commute times and enhance mobility for over 1,000,000 residents in the western metropolitan area.

The 2C line connects the Metro 2 Line at the Los Alcarrizos Terminal connects to the Los Alcarrizos Skylift.

Subway trains are programmed to stop ever four minutes. The 2C line has five stops at Estacion Pablo Andon Guzman (Los Alcarrizos), Estación 27 de Febrero (Prolongacion 27 de Febrero), Estacion Pedro Martinez (Manoguayabo), Estadio Freddy Gaton Arce (Km. 14, Autopista Duarte), Estación Franklin Mieses Burgos (Avenida Monumental) and Estación Maria Montez (Km. 9 Autopista Duarte). The route promises to reduce to half an hour what used to take up to two hours in intense traffic.

The government announced a free usage period through Easter Week. The start schedule will be Monday to Friday, from 6am to 10am, and from 6pm to 10pm. Saturdays, from 6a to 10am and 12pm to 4pm and Sundays and holidays from 10am to 8pm.
