DR competitor wins first stage of the Vuelta Ciclistica Independencia Nacional

The local cyclist Danielky Cedeño, representing Team La Romana, won the first stage of the 47th Vuelta Ciclística Independencia Nacional. Twenty-four teams (11 national and 13 international) are participating.

The stages of the race cover 836 km throughout levelled and mountainous and urban lands from 24 February to 1 March 2026.

Cedeño, a native of La Romana, achieved the victory “at home” by finishing the 117-kilometer route from Santo Domingo to La Romana with a time of 2:13:58. He beat out Joseph Ramírez (Verrazano-Santiago) and James Schurman (City Bikes Miami) in a competitive finish. The stage covered Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, and concluded in La Romana.

  3. Santo Domingo-Rancho Arriba, San José de Ocoa (158 km)

  5. Santo Domingo-Circunvalación Santo Domingo Norte (138 km)
  6. Circuito área monumental de Santiago (131 km)
