In a weekend operation targeting unconventional drug trafficking methods, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry seized 96 scented candles filled with suspected cocaine at an international courier company in the National District. The DNCD press release did not indicate the name of the courier.
The inspection, part of a broader crackdown on creative concealment techniques, uncovered the illicit substance hidden within a shipment destined for Navarra, Spain. According to authorities, the package was dispatched by a woman claiming residency in Los Jardines, Santiago.
The substance has been referred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine its exact weight and chemical composition.
The DNCD stated that these “aromatic” tactics represent a persistent effort by international criminal structures to bypass established security controls. Investigations are currently deepening to identify the specific network behind the shipment and to determine if the woman listed as the sender is part of a larger organized crime ring.
