Once again, the Center for Emergency Operations (COE) launches Easter Week plan to save lives. Late last week, former general Juan Manuel Mendez, the head of the Center for Emergency Operations (COE), announced the Operation Life Awareness 2026, designed to reduce fatalities during the celebration of Easter Week in the Dominican Republic.

The quantity of the equipment assembled to this operation is impressive: 637 ambulances, 27 boats, three helicopters, 47 OMSA buses, 327 fast-response units, 3,451 aid stations, 57 tow trucks, 25 mobile workshops, nine regional command centers, 25 centers for lost children, and 27 highway-assistance units. Drive slower and be safe was the key expression.

The operation will begin on Thursday, 2 April at 2pm and extend until 6pm on Sunday, 5 April.

Mendez reported that 22 government and civil agencies would be taking part in the operation designed to reduce drownings, traffic accidents, and food and alcohol poisoning.

More than 50,000 volunteers, and government agents will take part in the operation. Nearly 3,500 service posts will be in service to assist travelers.

Minister of the Interior and Police Faride Raful announced that commercial businesses are banned from selling alcohol on Holy Friday. She warned drivers that the authorities would be super vigilant regarding this matter this year.

The head of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio Landron, told reporters at the press conference at the COE headquarters, that 32 public hospitals had been resupplied to deal with the increased number of patients typical during this week.
