Solucreto awarded concrete superstructure contract for SDQ

VINCI Airports/Aerodom announces it has chosen the Dominican construction firm Solucreto (formally Solucreto Soluciones Concretas S.R.L.) to execute the concrete superstructure for the new US$350 million terminal at Las Américas International Airport (SDQ). The terminal is slated to add capacity for four million passengers a year. This will double the current capacity of the airport that mainly serves capital city traffic.

The selection was coordinated by VINCI Construction Grands Projects, the lead entity overseeing the ambitious infrastructure expansion. Solucreto is mainly known for its residential developments, including Emerald Towers on Av. Jacobo Majluta and Sotavento Beach Townhouses in Playa Nueva Romana.

Scope of the structural works
Solucreto, led by Engineer Frank Sánchez, will be responsible for the “resistant skeleton” of the terminal. This critical phase serves as the foundation for all subsequent architectural and mechanical installations. According to the project specifications, the scope of work includes:
• Structural elements: Construction of reinforced concrete columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, and foundations.
• Logistics: Supply of all specialized steel, concrete, and advanced formwork systems.
• Integration: Establishing the structural base required for the building’s envelope, HVAC (climatization) systems, electrical grids, and passenger boarding bridges.

Aerodom emphasized that the successful execution of this phase is the primary determinant for the project’s technical timeline and the progression of interior and exterior finishes.

Sustainability and future outlook
Reflecting modern aviation trends, the design incorporates significant energy efficiency solutions. A central feature is a dedicated Energy Center powered by solar energy to support the terminal’s operations.
Construction is slated for completion in late 2028.

In July 2024, Aerodom and VINCI Airports had announced a US$250 million investment in Terminal 3 for four million passengers at Las Américas International Airport (AILA). The US$250 figure was part of the commitments following the December 2023 renegotiation and extension of the concession contract between the Dominican government and Aerodom, which extended the partnership until 2060.

On 19 August 2025, VINCI Airports had President Luis Abinader and Minister of Tourism David Collado and Minister of Public Works Eduardo Estrella over for the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction the US$250 million investment was confirmed. Now, Terminal 3 is announced as a US$350 million investment to serve the same four million passengers a year.
