Manzanillo Gas & Power (MG&P) has announced the appointment of lawyer Mónika Infante Henríquez as the project’s new general manager. The company expects the move to strengthen its strategic positioning within the energy sector and bolster the project’s impact on national energy security.

The Manzanillo project, located in Montecristi, represents a total investment exceeding US$1.7 billion and includes two combined-cycle power plants totaling 840 MW and a natural gas regasification terminal. Under her leadership, MG&P aims to contribute significantly to the Dominican Republic’s energy security and socio-economic development, operating under international standards and responsible environmental management.

Infante Henríquez joins the project after serving from 2012 to 2026 as head officer at Aeropuertos Dominicanos XXI (Aerodom – VINCI Airports). Before her promotion, she served as legal director at the airports firm from 2008. Her professional profile integrates expertise in strategy, regulation, finance, and corporate governance, backed by a proven track record in institutional relations and complex negotiations.

During her tenure at Aerodom-VINCI, she led key airport operations and high-impact strategic processes, most notably the restructuring of financing for infrastructure improvements and the successful negotiation of the airport concession extension.

A hallmark of Mónika Infante’s management at Aerodom was the early securing of a 30-year extension for the concession of six state-owned airports.

In November 2023, under her leadership, Aerodom reached an agreement with the Dominican government to extend the contract, which was originally set to expire in March 2030, until 2060. This strategic achievement was finalized nearly seven years prior to the original contract’s expiration, providing the stability necessary for a massive investment cycle. The deal included an immediate upfront payment of US$775 million to the Dominican State and a commitment to invest over US$800 million in airport infrastructure, including the construction of a new terminal at Las Américas International Airport (AILA).
