The former director of the Dominican Corporation of State Enterprises (CORDE), Leoncio Almánzar was interrogated yesterday, Tuesday 20 June 2017, about the irregular sale of land and government property in the Tres Brazos area of Santo Domingo East. He was questioned by the Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez, and the head of the Specialized Prosecution Unit for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) Laura Guerrero Pelletier.
On 13 February this year, Prsident Danilo Medina ordered the dissolution of CORDE and the Commission for the Reform of Public Companies (CREP) as well as dismissing Leoncio Almánzar as director of CORDE. The government also decided to annul the sale of Los Tres Brazos and begun the process to transfer the property for a low Price or free depending on the socio economic condition of those who had lived in the sector for years.
