Hurricane Emily set to pass well south

The track of Hurricane Emily, a Category 2 storm as of 11 am, puts it passing approximately 200 miles to the south of the Dominican Republic. The government has issued a tropical storm watch from Punta Salinas westward to the DR/Haiti border. The impact in rain storm intensity on the Dominican Republic will depend on the subsequent strengthening of the storm as it makes its way west through the Caribbean.
