US President George W. Bush will sign the DR-CAFTA agreement into law today, following its approval last week by the US House of Representatives. Diario Libre reports that a special ceremony will take place in the East Room of the White House before the president leaves for his vacation at his Texas ranch. By signing the bill into law, Bush will allow the FTA to come into effect on 1 January 2005, with those countries that have already had it approved by their respective legislative branches. The Dominican Congress has not yet ratified the agreement.
