The National District city government has agreed to extend for another two hours the time allotted for trucks to travel along the sea-bordering Malecón. The request was made by business organizations. The measure is temporary while the Ministry of Public Works completes a new road (Circunvalación de Santo Domingo) that would divert cargo traffic around the city.
Trucks will now be able to travel on the Malecon Monday to Friday from 12 midnight to 2pm from Calle Arzobispo Meriño to Av. Maximo Gomez. After 2pm. On Saturday, the trucks will be able to travel from 12 midnight to 12 noon. As of noontime, they will not be able to travel on the Malecon until Monday.
