The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reported the confiscating of 589 green ceramic bananas that were being exported with packaged real bananas through the Port of Manzanillo in Montecristi. Intelligence operation led narcotics agents, accompanied by state prosecutors, to search a freight container with cargo destined for Europe. Upon breaking open a ceramic banana a fine white powder was found, suspect to be cocaine that was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) for verification. The investigation continues.
