
The National Statistics’ Office (ONE) has informed that between 2007 and 2016, 18,000 people lost their lives in traffic accidents, of which 87.4% were men and 14.42% women.
Alexandra Izquierdo, director of ONE, said that in this decade there were 9,134 fatal motor accidents, with an average of 1,880 deaths per year.
She said that statistics show that most who died were young people, with 36.98% being between 15 and 29 years. More than 87% of the cases involved motorcycles.
