Bahia Principe uses electrical cars

The Spanish hotel company, Grupo Piñero is using its Bahia Principe Bávaro Resort in Punta Cana as the showcase for the implementation of an environmentally friendly internal transport program for hotels.

The company proudly announced this November 2017 the switch to electrical cars of all its internal transport at the Punta Cana resort. A fleet of 100 fully powered electrical cars is now at the service of staff and tourists at the Bahía Principe Bávaro Resort. The company estimates they will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 900 tons and will consume around 365 tons less of fossil fuel a year.

Grupo Piñero is pre-manufacturing the Emos brand vehicles at their own Turiscar facility in Murcia, Spain. The final assembly then takes place in Jamaica, Mexico and Dominican Republic. Since it began operations in 2016, Turiscar has made available 318 vehicles for hotel operations in Spain, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica.

Bahia Principe has also signed on for Blue Flag, the environmental certification, for its beaches in the Dominican Republic.
