Relatives and neighbors of Mario Salvador Molina, who was murdered in December 2016 in Los Girasoles, say that his death was ordered by Martín Batista Ogando, recently accused of the murder of 28-year old Geraldine Ivette Sánchez Baldera from a gunshot to her head. Batista had a two-year old son with Sánchez.
Molina died from three gunshots from an assailant who fled. Prior to his death he had been receiving threats and warnings because of his close relationship with Sánchez.
Relatives and neighbors of Molina are now asking that Batista, in pre-trial custody for the murder of his former spouse, also be tried for the murder of Molina. They say that at the time the case was not investigated because Batista has strong military and judicial ties.
