President Danilo Medina announced on 6 December 2017 free Wi-Fi service on board the Santo Domingo Metro and the Santo Domingo Skylift across the Ozama River that will begin operations by February 2018. Free Wi-Fi will also be available in parks, schools and Dominican airports. Medina said the service is part of the República Digital program.
