A man was arrested in Mao, Valverde province, in the northwest, as he tried to trick a man who had just left a bank into buying a fake bar of gold. The police said that their agents arrested José Alberto Jimenez Ventura, 51, when he was caught in the act.
According to the police, “the person detained was not able to carry out his subterfuge due to the prompt intervention of the police agents who noted the suspicious look about the man.” Jimenez Ventura is under arrest and awaiting formal charges from the Justice Department.
