The spokesman for the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), Carlos Devers, has said they have confiscated 850 packages of what is presumably cocaine, off the coast of La Romana province.
He explained that the DNCD were working with other agencies in a wide operation near to Catalina Island and they intercepted a speedboat that was trying to land the merchandise in the country, as a result of which three Venezuelans and a Dominican were arrested.
In the month of December alone, more than 2,000 kilos of cocaine was confiscated, which is considerably more than the previous year.
