Many private schools have planned to return to regular classes as of Tuesday, 3 April 2018, but public schools resumed on Monday. Media reports are that attendance, nevertheless, was low.
Listin Diario reported that at the Francisco Xavier Billini, public elementary school in Cayetano Germosén Street, the principal, Emilia Félix said that less than 50 students had showed up for school out of a total number of 237. She explained that she had asked parents as well as students to attend school today. To encourage students to attend, she had announced a special program to award several computers to selected students. However, even this incentive did not seem to be enough to fill the classrooms and the principal was forced to postpone the activity.
In the General Antonio Duvergé school in the Honduras sector, there were around 50% of students according to director Ana María Corporán.
