
President Danilo Medina is expected to travel to San José, Costa Rica to attend the inaugural of President-elect Carlos Alvarado on Tuesday, 8 May 2018, according to a release from the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Costa Rica. The Presidency of the Dominican Republic, nevertheless has not yet announced the trip.
President Medina heads the Central American Integration System (SICA) that unites the heads of state of Central America countries and the Dominican Republic. Other presidents that have confirmed their attendance are Juan Carlos Varela, Panamá; Jimmy Morales, Guatemala; Salvador Sánchez Cerén, El Salvador; Lenín Moreno, Ecuador; Evo Morales, Bolivia.
The new president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, is a 38-year old journalist, writer and musician and will replace President Luis Guillermo Solís.
