On Monday, 30 July 2018, the director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transport (OPRET), Antonio Saleta García, explained that the cars for Line 2B of the Santo Domingo Metro that arrived last week are being readied and tested in accordance with international norms. Meanwhile, the maintenance team at OPRET continues to paint and clean and install air conditioning in the areas for the new line. According to OPRET, the personnel who will work on line 2B are ready, as are the logistics. Yet he said that the date for their incorporation into the service and the start of Line 2B has yet to be set.

The new line has four stations that are along Avenida San Vicente de Paul, the first: Ercilia Pepín on Avenida Venezuela next to the entrance to Tres Brazos, the next, Rosa Duarte on Avenida Fernández de Navarrete. Another, the Trina de Moya de Vázquez next to the street of the same name and the final one Concepción Bona next to the City Hall in Santo Domingo East and in front of the MegaCentro.

The entering into operation of the line will make it possible for a person to go from MegaCentro to the furthermost western station at Luperon- Maria Montez (a distance of around 12.8 km) for only RD$20, big savings for those who live in eastern Santo Domingo and commute to work in western Santo Domingo.
