Ramón González, a reporter for Listin Diario, shares in a story published on 31 July 2018 how despite enduring injuries to her wrist and knees, weightlifter Yineisy Paola Reyes, competing in 69 kilograms, won a bronze medal f Central American & Caribbean Games. He tells also that few know that the weight lifter lives with her parents in extreme poverty in her hometown of Sainaguá, San Cristóbal.
The reporter visited her home and learned that a sponsor, David Gas, had helped her purchase a small lot and then when she won bronze has helped her buy more construction materials to keep up the construction of a permanent home for the family. Her father is a construction master.
