During the past legislative session, the Chamber of Deputies has passed 149 bills, 36 resolutions, 49 contracts and 12 international treaties. Bills converted into law include tax reform, collecting efficiency, renegotiation of sovereign bonds, treasury bill and others. In addition, the Chamber has passed the consumer protection bill, and one that regulates the legal situation of homes assigned by the Executive Branch to individuals. Another that modified submarine limits of territory, and another that regulates specially-assisted maternity. Other laws passed created the National Competitiveness Council, the Mental Health Law, the Public Credit System and the La Vega Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation. Resolutions include one to honor Dominicans who took part in the underground 14 de Junio Movement and an invitation to Metro Director Diandino Pena to explain the source of funds being invested in the mega-project.
