President Danilo Medina held a bilateral meeting with Equatorial Guinea’s President, 74-year old Teodoro Obiang-Nguema. Obiang-Nguema was recently re-elected head of the ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) for an indefinite period. The media in Africa has reported that the political development means that the 74-year old leader could potentially become president of the Central African oil-producing country for life. Obian-Nguema is one of the African continent’s longest-serving leaders. He has been in power since 1979.
