At least four inmates have been injured as a result of a riot in the jail at kilometer 15 in Azua. The names of the injured are not yet known or the cause of the riot. However, according to Police spokesman, Colonel Frank Félix Durán Mejía, those who started the riot were transferred to other jails.
Durán Mejía explained that the injured were also transferred having received medical attention. A chilling video taken inside the jail showed the rioting inmates yelling that if the authorities and the press did not intervene there would be many deaths.
