Gallup-Hoy: Medina government gets 47.8% approval, down from 62.7% in 2017

President Danilo Medina’s government has the approval of 47.8% of eligible voters, according to the Gallup-Hoy poll that was carried out 16-21 September 2018 nationwide. Residents in rural areas are more supportive, with backing from 57.8%. In the north and southern regions, his backing is 49.3% and 51.4% respectively.

Despite having the backing of around half of voters, this support is a significant drop from the 87.4% a Gallup-Hoy poll registered in February 2014. By February 2017, Medina’s popularity had already dropped to 62.7%. Medina has been President since August 2012.

43% of voters answered to the question on Medina’s government performance that it had been positive, 30% gave Medina a negative, and 24% said regular. Nevertheless, 40% said that he did not meet their expectations.
