Large drug haul and seven arrests

The Colombian authorities have captured three pilots wanted by the authorities in the Dominican Republic for international drug dealing. The pilots had in there possession 600 kilos of cocaine that was confiscated. The pilots are thought to be part of a drug-dealing ring made up of Colombians and Dominicans who reportedly transfer cocaine in light aircraft from Cartagena to an airport in La Romana province in complicity of high level officials.

As part of the operation the Dominican authorities arrested four high-ranking officers of the Dominican armed forces suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. In addition, the seven suspects arrested were also had outstanding warrants against them from Interpol. The 600 kilos of cocaine that was confiscated was being transported in a light aircraft with Colombian registration.
