
A Haitian medical student has died in the Pekin sector of Santiago after he was hit by a bullet shot by police during an incident with motorcycle taxi drivers. The unnamed woman, who attended Santiago Technological University (UTESA), was watching a demonstration by the motorcyclists from her second floor home, when she was hit by the stray bullet in the throat.
The motorcyclists were protesting about the price of fuel and calling for better security.
The police said that they were carrying out an investigation and warned that drastic action would be taken against those who affected public order and that supposedly they had received information that there were anti social persons who had infiltrated the demonstration.
