Many children who were rescued from the streets and taken to shelters by the Attorney General’s Department for Children and Adolescents have escaped according to deputy AG Marisol Tobal, who believes that this is caused by the delay in locating the children’s parents and other relatives. El Caribe reports that the youngsters who escape end up back on the streets begging, wiping windshields and doing other menial jobs. Tobal also reported that there have been numerous complaints about child molestation so far this year, which she described as worrying.
