
Two people were injured in Bonao during the strike, including 28 year old Miguel Virgilio Martínez, who was shot, allegedly by the police. The police, however, maintain that Martinez was shot by another protester. Colonel Claudio José Poché, head of the regional command Cibao South, based in Bonao, said that those who carried out the shooting, who he claimed were the protesters themselves, would be arrested but the Populist organizations, represented by Doctor Pablo Abad said it was the police who injured one of the two men.
