Department for the Prevention of Corruption (DEPRECO) Director, Osvaldo Lister expects the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) to correct the “mistake” made by the Criminal Chamber of the National District Court of Appeals, which he believes emitted a “political” ruling in the Plan Renove fraud case. Diario Libre reports that he said that he hoped that sentences of this kind, acquitting the defendants in a corruption case, wouldn’t happen again. El Caribe reports that according to Lister, dozens of former government officials are being indicted for involvement in corruption cases. He said that there are currently several cases against former government officials who are being investigated for corruption, involving RD$3 billion.
