
According to the provincial department of Civil Defense, seven people were injured in two traffic accidents over the Constitution Day weekend on the Puerto Plata-Navarrete road.
The first accident happened between Maimón and Imbert when a Toyota SUV carrying fruit collided with a public shared taxi. Five people were injured and taken to the Ricardo Limon public hospital in Puerto Plata. Yoendry Núñez Tavárez, Willians Alberto Polanco and Jorge Francisco, were all from El Javillar and the other two have not been identified.
The other accident involved a security vehicle, carrying money from Dominican Watchman National, which overturned following a tire blowout leaving two injured just after the Altamira tunnel.
