Arrest made in killing of homeless men

Police officers in Santo Domingo have arrested a man who has confessed to the murder of two homeless men in the Colonial City that took place on the 25 and 28 November 2018. Argenis Cuevas Silva (alias) El Zombi, aged 25, was arrested for the killing by blunt force Ányelo Zorrilla Feliz (alias) El Quemao, on 28 November, and Héctor Lorenzo García, on 25 November.

He was captured following screening of video footage from the security cameras situated in strategic points around the city for the safety of tourists, residents and workers. They captured the moment when he dropped a rock on Zorrilla, while he was sleeping on the pavement. He was also identified by two other people as their partner, who together with them used to rifle through garbage cans and the parks in the area.

Cuevas Silva (alias) El Zombi, admitted to both crimes as supposedly the victims had attacked him two months ago and robbed some tools he had collected to sell.
