The tramway that connects the National District on the west with Sabana Perdida on the east side of the Ozama River, suffered what appeared to be a mechanical or an electrical failure, leaving dozens of passengers literally “hanging in the air.” Officials of the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (Opret) that operates the skylift said the passengers were removed according to their protocol for these events, which, according to sources can occur for a variety of technical issues. The details of the exact nature of the breakdown were not shared.
