Talking shared challenges

Over 300 businessmen and delegates attended yesterday the Latin Finance Dominican Republic-Central America Forum on Shared Challenges for a Shared Future regarding DR-CAFTA trade agreement. The event, sponsored by Latin Finance magazine, took place at the Hilton Santo Domingo. During the event, Santo Domingo businessman Francisco Garcia stressed that while it is true that the DR-CAFTA opens new doors to trade in the DR, the DR competitiveness is severely hampered by local conditions. He criticized that the government is sending out mixed signals. Presidential Technical Minister stressed the support of the government to the implementation of DR-CAFTA. Spokespeople for tourism, finance, manufacturing and government sectors from the Caribbean and Central American region addressed the audience.
