Go ahead for Colonial City US$90 million development fund

Government offices have reached an agreement for the creation of a trust that would oversee the implementation of the US$90 million Inter American Development Bank (IDB) funding of for the continuing of the restorations and renovations in the historic center of the National District. The funding of the Plan de Recuperacion de la Ciudad Colonial builds upon a first US$50 million loan by the IDB for the Colonial City that was managed by the Ministry of Tourism. Now for the US$90 million loan, the Ministry of Tourism is joined by the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Hacienda and the City Government of the National District (ADN).

Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García, Culture Minister Eduardo Selman, Hacienda Minister Donald Guerrero met with Santo Domingo city mayor David Collado to finalize the details prior to the signing of the agreement later this month. The entities had until 31 December 2018 to reach an agreement in order to keep the funding.
