The Dominican Republic swept to a perfect record in the first phase of the World Baseball Classic. The joy was short-lived, however, as the Quisqueya team fell 7-1 against Puerto Rico at the start of the second round. With Cuba’s victory over Venezuela, the only hope for making the final round will be to win the next two games with Cuba and Venezuela.
