JCE estimates 33,819 will dispute elective positions primaries

In preparation for the May 2020 general election, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) is assisting the five political parties that have registered for open parties with the primaries in which an estimated 33,819 candidates could participate. The numbers come from the possibility of 10 presidential candidates for parties, or 50 in search of the Presidency, but also the numerous candidates that will compete for senator, deputy, Parlacen, city mayors, and city councilor positions nationwide for the ruling PLD and the opposition parties PRD, PRM, Al Pais and Opción Democratica.
