A very long meeting of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) came to the conclusion that the registrations made for candidates from the so-called “Pink Alliance” (PRD and PRSC, whose colors are white and red, respectively) are valid and were filed before the deadline. This decision of the entire board also nullifies a request from the PLD party that the registrations be disqualified. JCE chief magistrate Luis Arias talked to the press after the long meeting of the board. Arias said that the board based its decision on the fact that the secretary of the JCE, Antonio Lockward Artiles, certified the candidacies were registered within the deadlines established by the election rules. Magistrate Roberto Rosario, who had denounced the filings admitted by Lockward, was not present at the JCE board meeting, having requested a few days of vacation.
