Orlando Cristian Duarte Garrido was found guilty of the involuntary homicide of Maria Marcelino Castro de Bonilla, and sentenced to three months in prison by Judge Yuly Tamariz of the National District Criminal Chamber. Clinica Abreu was also told to pay RD$11 million in compensation for moral and material damages caused and a RD$100,000 fine.
