The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced on Monday, 25 February 2019 that it is calling for a fast-tracked bids for the automated voter system to run with the software designed by their IT department. The system would be tested for the 6 October 2019 primaries that the JCE will organize for five political parties — Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), Partido Revolucionario Moderno, Partido Revolucionario Dominicano, Alianza Pais (AlPais) and Opción Democrática (OD).
The JCE also approved the hiring of an international auditing firm to carry out the technical audit of the software developed by the JCE.
If the system proves to be successful, it will be used for the general elections scheduled for 2020.
