Traffic jams in the National District have worsened this week. The speculation is that thousands are out shopping for Mother’s Day gifts. Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, 26 May 2019.
A report in Diario Libre on Thursday, 23 May 2019, on occasion of Mother’s Day highlights how the extended family that is part of Latin culture leads Dominicans to have many “mothers”. In the Dominican Republic, there are aunts, godmothers, grandmothers, and neighbors that also share much love and take on the role of mom. The feature is appropriately titled: “There is just one mom, but how many do we Dominicans have?”
