If you are young or a senior, finding a job in the Dominican Republic is difficult. Now Labor Minister Winston Santos Ureña says that this reflects a global trend. Work in the informal sector is becoming every day more common.

He said times are changing and mentioned atypical situations that are becoming every day more common. He observed many young people are working as Uber drivers.
Santos lamented that two bills that would stimulate companies to hire unskilled young workers have not moved in Congress.
Nevertheless, he admitted this is not a good situation for the government because fewer taxes are paid.
