The president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Miguel Vargas Maldonado, announced a polling company would be hired to determine the party’s presidential candidate. He did not name the company and just said it would be one of those that have registered with the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas had named President Danilo Medina as the only candidate the PRD would back for President in 2020.
The PRD has been a strong ally of the PLD since party votes made possible the constitutional reform in 2015 that revoked the ban on his running for President in 2016.
