Learn to vote on the new automated machines

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) encourages Dominicans to practice voting in the 2020 general elections using the automated machines set up at educational modules in major stores and malls. The modules have been set up at the Blue Mall, Sambil, Galerías 360 and Downtown Center in Santo Domingo. Also at La Sirena of Av. Winston Churchill in Santo Domingo and in San Cristóbal. Plaza Lama stores at Av. 27 de Febrero, Av. Duarte, Av. Nicolás de Ovando, Carretera Mella, La Romana, Santiago and Herrera have modules. The modules are also at Supermercado Porvenir in San Francisco de Macorís. And at the Jumbo in La Vega.

The educational modules are staffed from 9am to 10pm. They will be available until 9 September 2019.

The Central Electoral Board explains the idea is to first introduce automated voting to citizens who plan to participate in the simultaneous primary elections of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) on 6 October 2019.

To access the training, citizens must present their identity and electoral card, the “cedula.”

These are the same machines that will be used in the February 2020 municipal elections and the May 2020 presidential and congressional elections.

The automated voting machines will be installed in 7,372 polling stations in 3,890 voting locations nationwide.
