The Ministry of Culture and the Fundación Sinfonía announce the presentation of Il Pomo d’Oro on Friday, 18 October 2019. Il Pomo d’Oro Orchestra is a prize-winning orchestra founded in 2012 and named after the opera Il Pomo d’Oro by Antonio Cesti. Based in Italy, the orchestra is best known for vocal recitals and operas. The ensemble specializes in authentic performances of music from the Baroque and Classical periods.
Conducted by Russian orchestra director Maxim Emelyanychev, the orchestra will play a program with works by Hasse, Corelli, Haydn, Vivaldi and Bach.
A second performance is the pastiche opera “In War and Peace” scheduled for Saturday, 19 October. Il Pomo d’Oro will accompany US mezzosoprano Joyce DiDonato, winner of several Grammy Awards.
Performances will be at the National Theater. On both evenings, 18 and 19 October, performances will be at 8:30pm.
