Government contracts lawyers in Brazil to collect from Odebrecht

The Attorney General of the Republic has contracted the services of Brazilian lawyers to ensure it gets paid on the deal signed with Odebrecht after the company filed for bankruptcy.

Odebrecht agreed to pay US$184 million to the Dominican government to escape immediate local prosecution of several of their people. In June 2019, Odebrecht should have paid a US$32 million installment on the agreement, but, instead, they declared bankruptcy. Payments were scheduled through 2025. At this time, nobody knows what will happen to the pending payments.
