
Official data from the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reveals that from January to August this year, 5,358 kilos of drugs have been confiscated in 14,040 cases, without counting the 599 kilos found at sea this week. This is 1,200 kilos more than over the same period in 2018.
Most drugs have been seized in the eastern part of the country. The east had 1,762 kilos confiscated, some 545 kilos more than the south area so far this year.
The city with the most drugs confiscated was Santo Domingo with 1,877, and the city with the least was San José de Ocoa with only 0.38 kilos.
