
There have now been 14,100 suspected cases of dengue reported so far this year, with 34 deaths. The areas with the highest number of cases over the last four weeks are Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago and Higüey.
The number of dengue cases is down slightly, with only 523 cases notified over the last week, compared to over 600 per week in prior weeks.
Regarding malaria, there have been 616 cases so far this year, some 223 more than the same date last year. There were 40 cases this past week, of which eight have been confirmed, with 93% of the cases coming from Los Tres Brazos and La Ciénaga in Greater Santo Domingo.
