Remittances rise for year to date

According to the Central Bank, the Dominican Republic received US$5.29 billion in remittances from January to September 2019. The remittances are US$1.37 billion more than over the same period in 2018.

The majority of the remittances are sent from the United States (77.5%) and Spain (10.1%).

The provinces receiving the most remittances were the National District (31.4%), Santiago (15%), Santo Domingo (9.2%), Duarte (5.4%) and La Vega (4.2%).
